Tips for Getting Rid of Wasps

Tips for Getting Rid of Wasps

Wasps can be terrifying and such a nuisance, especially when you are enjoying a nice dinner on the back patio, and incoming one of those stinging suckers interrupts! But we’re here to help, and with these tips, it will be easy to get rid of wasps in and around your home.

Find the Nest

The first step to take is to make sure wasps aren’t living in or outside of your home already. Once you have located the nest, you can make an attempt at killing them or call us – we would be happy to help!

If you choose to destroy the nest, make sure that you are fully covered in clothing. You can then create a DIY mixture of 2 tablespoons of dish soap and 8 ounces of water and blast the nest. The soapy water typically kills them immediately, but be sure to take cover in case they decide to attack.

Make A Decoy Nest

Wasps are extremely territorial. If they see a decoy nest close to your home, they will likely avoid building one around your home at all costs. Decoy nests are super easy to make. All you have to do is:

  1. Stuff a small brown paper bag with newspaper
  2. Tie the top with string
  3. Crinkle it, so it resembles a wasps nest
  4. Hang it from your desired location

Use Peppermint Oil

Wasps don’t like any sort of mint smell. You can take advantage of this natural remedy by leaving cotton balls with peppermint oil around your porch or any area that may be wasp infested.
