5 Bugs that can Bring You Luck

Any homeowner knows that bugs are far from your friends. They’re quick little critters that always seem to find a way to cause problems in your home. Even though pests usually bring nothing but headaches, some of them are known for being lucky. Before you grab your flyswatter, check out these five bugs that can bring you luck.

Ladybugs

You’ve probably heard that ladybugs bring luck at least once in your lifetime. But do you know what type of luck they bring you? It’s said that when a ladybug lands on you, you’ll be granted with more patience and fewer burdens, and your illnesses will be taken away. Plus, if one stays on you long enough, you can count the spots to see the number of happy months you have ahead of you.

Dragonflies

Dragonflies are some pretty scary looking critters if you’ve ever seen one up close. Even though they can be frightening, they’re known to bring prosperity, strength, peace, purity, courage, and harmony. Some people even say that if they land on you, you’re about to experience a big change in your life. If you need a little luck, it might be worth it to let these big-eyed bugs rest on your arm for a while.

Crickets

Crickets first became a symbol of luck in Asian countries, where they were used as “watchdogs.” When crickets stopped chirping, it meant there was danger lurking. So you can think of crickets as your guardians, bringing you all the luck you need. But be careful, they say that if you kill one, even on accident, you’ll have years of bad luck.

Scarabs

If you’ve ever seen Egyptian art, you’ve probably noticed a few of these beetles hiding in there. This is because they represented the rising sun and a protection against evil in Egyptian culture. They also represent transformation, regeneration, and rebirth. If you see one of these little guys, let them be – you never know if they could be bringing you a little bit of luck.

Butterflies

Because butterflies are born from a cocoon, they symbolize transformation, strength, vitality, and life. It’s said that if you’re going through some type of change in life, whether it be a new job or a new home, butterflies will be an omen for luck throughout that transition. If you ever feel like you need a little bit of strength to get you through some tough times, maybe all you need is a trip to the garden.

There are so many different bug superstitions from all around the world that it seems like every critter you find has a story.
